A tourist drowned on Tuesday while swimming at a resort in Alifu Alifu atoll. This is the third tourist to drown this month.
The Maldives Police Service said that they were informed of the situation at around 10:30 a.m. this morning. The man was immediately rushed to the Alifu Alifu Atoll Hospital in Rasdhoo, they said.
The tourist who passed away is a 65-year-old British man.
According to the hospital, he was already dead when he was brought in.
Just yesterday, a tourist who was diving near the Rasdhoo-Madivaru channel in the same atoll also drowned. He was a 46-year-old British man. He was also pronounced dead at the atoll hospital.
On the seventh of this month, a tourist drowned while swimming at the Adaran Select Meedhupparu resort in Raa atoll.
