The Parliament has approved the appointment of Zammath Ahmed Waheed to the Broadcasting Commission, filling the vacancy created by the expiration of Aminath Ameena’s term on July 14.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had submitted six nominees for consideration. Following interviews conducted by the Independent Institutions Committee, Zammath received the highest score—89.29%, exceeding the required 75% threshold to qualify for appointment.
The top five scorers from the Committee’s evaluation were:
Zammath Ahmed Waheed – 89.29%
Zeena Zahir – 84.57%
Shimla Ahmed – 76.86%
Ibrahim Ashraf – 67.71%
Ali Yoosuf – 64.17%
Zammath’s appointment was unanimously approved by all 56 members who participated in the parliamentary vote held today.
She currently serves in a senior role at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and has extensive media experience, having previously worked at Voice of Maldives, Public Service Media, and VTV.
