The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel has arrived in Kuwait on an official visit at the invitation of Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya.
Upon arrival, Minister Khaleel was warmly welcomed by his counterpart. During the visit, the two foreign ministers will hold formal discussions to review the longstanding and close brotherly ties between the Maldives and Kuwait, rooted in mutual respect and shared Islamic heritage. The Ministers will also explore new avenues of future collaboration between the two countries.
In addition, Minister Khaleel will also meet with the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Minister for Investment, Minister of Finance of Kuwait, and other senior dignitaries of Kuwait and explore opportunities to deepen economic ties through enhanced collaboration in trade and investments between the two countries.
Kuwait has been an invaluable development partner for the Maldives, providing generous support and assistance over the years, most notably through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development for the expansion of Velana International Airport, and assistance provided for the Small Island Hospital Development Project through loan facility, granted in 2024. This visit underscores the Maldives steadfast commitment to reinforcing and deepening the brotherly ties between Maldives and Kuwait with a focus on expanding cooperation across key sectors.
