Malaysia’s Limkokwing University of Creative Technology and the Public Service Media (PSM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster cooperation in media training and education.
The MoU was signed during PSM’s Managing Director Ibrahim Nasreen visit to the university. Limkokwing University’s Chief Brand Officer, Tiffanie Marie Lim represented the university.
Under the agreement, PSM employees will have the opportunity to participate in various courses offered by Limkokwing University. Scholarship opportunities for various media programmes and courses will also be explored. Additionally, refresher programmes will be conducted for employees across different departments of PSM.
Under the agreement, opportunities will also be provided by Russia's Synergy University, a partner institution of Limkokwing University.
Speaking on the partnership, Ibrahim Nasreen stated that the agreement was signed as part of the company's broader efforts to enhance the technical skills of its employees. Nasreen said the agreement seeks to deliver media trainings and promote the field of media across the Maldives.
Limkokwing University has previously collaborated with PSM to train staff, where PSM employees have had the opportunity to participate in different training programmes. Under the agreement signed in 2017, courses were conducted in collaboration with the Maldives Media Institute (MMI), which operates under PSM.
PSM is also working to reach similar partnerships with several local institutions. Agreements are scheduled to be signed shortly with Villa College and MI College, while discussions are also ongoing with the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) to conduct similar media-related trainings.
According to MMI, in addition to these institutes, efforts are underway to explore such opportunities with additional institutes. The MMI will pursue move forward with these opportunities after conducting the necessary assessments.
