Maldives tourism reaches new heights with over 4,000 new beds in 2025

The Maldives saw a significant expansion in tourism infrastructure in 2025, with more than 4,200 new tourism beds added, bringing the total to 67,475 by year-end—up from 63,248 in 2024, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
The resort sector led growth, adding 2,150 beds following the opening of six new luxury properties, including Mandarin Oriental Maldives, Bulgari Resort Maldives, Zamani Island, Corinthia Maldives, and Nala Maldives. The nation now hosts 178 operating resorts, offering 44,697 beds.
Guesthouses also contributed strongly, with 44 new establishments providing an additional 1,203 beds, raising their total to 16,824. Safari vessels and hotels accounted for another 2,598 beds.
This infrastructure boom supported record-breaking tourism performance, with over 2.24 million visitors—200,000 more than in 2024—generating a historic USD 5.4 billion in tourist spending, a 15.8 percent increase from the previous year.
The Ministry hails 2025 as a landmark year, positioning the Maldives for continued growth in 2026 and beyond.
