The government is in the process of setting up youth hubs in six regions across the country, the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts, Ibrahim Waheed has said.
The first Youth Hub has already been inaugurated in Male’ City, aiming to conduct skills programmes for youth, organising recreational activities, providing a healthy, and mentally supportive environment, and offering counseling and youth wellbeing services under one roof.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President’s Office, Minister Waheed said no dedicated space for youth previously existed, and the government is addressing this gap. Agreements have already been signed to establish youth hubs in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, Thinadhoo City and Kulhudhuffushi City, he said.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised making these hubs important platforms to empower youth and nurture creative thinking.
