Information sessions focused on identifying common plant diseases and applying simple, effective solutions were successfully held yesterday in Kulhudhuffushi.
According to the Kulhudhuffushi City Council, the programme provided participants with clear, practical guidance on recognising diseases that affect plants and understanding their causes.
The sessions also demonstrated easy methods of preparing natural remedies using readily available household ingredients. Practical demonstrations highlighted the use of garlic, dried chilli, and ginger-based mixtures to control common plant problems such as black sooty mould and mealybug infestations.
Participants were given hands-on opportunities to prepare these remedies themselves, allowing them to directly apply the techniques learned during the sessions.
The training was conducted by Mohamed Qasim, Agriculture Officer from the Hanimaadhoo Agriculture Centre.
At the closing ceremony, the Kulhudhuffushi City Council expressed its appreciation to Mohamed Qasim and the Hanimaadhoo Agriculture Centre for their contribution and effective delivery of the programme.
The City Council noted that the initiative has equipped local growers with essential knowledge and practical skills to better protect their plants from diseases and improve overall plant health.
