Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) says it has completed concrete works for 55 meters of the quay wall under the Malé North Side Boduthakurufaanu Road Development Project.
On a post on social media, MTCC also revealed that preparations are underway to begin paving of the harbour-side sidewalks and installation of settlement tanks.
MTCC said that work is being carried out as per the schedule for the second segment of the project.
The construction covers a 250-metre section from the Local Market area to the North Harbour, forming part of a wider 1,088-metre stretch running from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the North Harbour.
According to MTCC, the development aims to improve pedestrian access, ease traffic congestion, address persistent flooding caused by drainage problems and enhance accessibility for residents, cargo vehicles and vessels. MTCC said it expects the second phase to be completed, and the road opened to the public ahead of Ramadan.
