Maldives and China agrees to protect sea turtles

Municipal council of Huijo City of China has agreed to work in protecting sea turtles and collaborate in the tourism sector with Maldives.
The agreement was signed at Huji Maldives Tourism Exchange Promotion held at Hotel Jenn last Thursday. Abdullah Suood the Vice President of MATATO signed the agreement on behalf of Maldives while Maai Xiao Meng the mayor of Hujo city signed the agreement on their behalf.
Like many Maldivian islands, Huijo City is a breeding ground for sea turtles. The mayor said that the areas where turtles lay eggs are protected. He said that since both countries have sea turtles protected, there are various avenues where the two countries can work together. He further said that they can use the expertise of Maldives in protecting the environment, to do the same in China.
In addition, he said that since Maldivian tourism sector is very developed, they can work on that area as well.
Even now, majority of the tourists to Maldives are from China.
