Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim and Commissioner of Police Abdullah Riyaz have sued former President Mohamed Nasheed, for making statements which could damage their reputation.
Lawyer representing both Nazim and Riyaz, Areef Ahmed Naseem said that the two separate case was filed to Civil Court today.
Areef said that the claims against Nasheed are in relation to statements he made about Nazim and Riyaz while speaking at Usfasgandu on day following the Commission of National Inquiry’s (CNI) release of its report.
Nasheed said while speaking at Usfasgandu, that he still suspects that Nazim and Riyaz participated in a coup, and thus people should continue to call them ‘traitors’.
