He made the statement while addressing at a special ceremony held to mark the two-year anniversary of his government.
The current administration is making significant efforts to ensure that those sidelined from the society, including those with disabilities, have equal opportunities to participate fully in social and economic life.
The President noted that in the past, social protection for those with disabilities had been insufficient. Therefore, many efforts have now been made to provide different opportunities to people with disabilities, he said.
The President added that 333 people have been employed in government companies and civil service as part of this initiative. These include 288 placed in government companies and 45 within the civil service, he said.
“We have employed 333 people with disabilities in government companies and the civil service. Of these, 288 were placed in government companies and 45 within the civil service. This number continues to grow and many other initiatives are underway in this area,” the President said.
The Ministry of Social and Family Development is also establishing agreements with various companies and agencies to create further employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and those under state care. The main objective of empowering people with disabilities is to encourage participation and ensure that everyone can contribute to society.
Significant efforts are being made to establish a positive and accessible working environment for people with disabilities. This includes redesigning new buildings and renovating existing offices to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
Speaking on children in state care, the President highlighted the government’s “A Family for Every Child" programme, which provisions for care for children neglected by their families or without guardians by placing them with loving families. The programme is one of the most important social sector initiatives that the government has given special priority to. To date, 101 children in state custody have been placed with families.
The President said the current government wants to build a compassionate and caring society, and emphasised the need for public support to achieve the goal. He said the government is a compassionate and caring government, and it wishes to build a similar society where every child and vulnerable person receives the care and attention they deserve.
The Family for Every Child programme is designed to provide children in state care with permanent families, and the opportunity to grow up in an environment of love and support.
