Tourist arrivals top 117,000

Tourist arrivals to the Maldives so far this year has surpassed 117,000.
The daily arrivals report released by the Tourism Ministry shows the Maldives welcomed 117,532 visitors as of Saturday. This marks a 9.7 percent increase from the 10,119 arrivals recorded during the same period last year.
The highest single day arrival in January was recorded on January 12, when the country welcomed 8,172 visitors.
The average daily arrivals stand at 6,530 visitors.
The data shows that 69.6 percent of visitors stayed in resorts, 25.4 percent in guesthouses, and 2.5 percent in liveaboards.
The top source market for arrivals this year is Russia, with over 15,000 visitors.

The country had welcomed a record two million tourist arrivals last year.
Maldives, which won the award for the WTA World's Leading Destination for the fifth consecutive year in 2024, expects to up tourist arrivals to 2.2 million this year.
