On Sunday, the Maldives Police Service announced that a body had been found during an operation that was a part of the ongoing investigation into Azhaan’s disappearance. The body is being transferred abroad for a autopsy because it is believed to be of Azhaan’s.
During the press conference conducted yesterday, Superintendent Hassan Saeed, Head of the Police Serious and Organized Crimes Unit, informed the media that the body was found in the vacant lot of land next to the water theme park in Hulhumalé.
Authorities claimed that they are unable to determine whether Azhaan has any injuries because of how much the body has been deteriorated. They added that it doesn’t appear that the body was attempted to be buried or destroyed. Authorities added that they have not yet been able to locate Azhaan’s phone and that no suspects have been identified.
