Phone thief sentenced to five months in prison

Criminal Court has sentenced an individual who trespassed into a house and stole the phone of an expatriate resident to five months in prison.
The incident in question took place on October 22, 2024.
Ahmed Abdulla, Aazaadh, HA. Molhadhoo was charged with unlawfully exerting influence over another person’s property and knowingly trespassing into an unauthorized location.
According to the charge sheet, Abdulla entered the bedroom of a Bangladeshi national, and stole a Vivo brand phone kept near a pillow.
He pleaded guilty to both charges during the trial.
Hence, on Sunday, Criminal Court sentenced him to three months in prison for trespassing and two months and 12 days in prison for unlawfully exerting influence over another person’s property.
However, he would have to serve four months and 26 days in prison after deducting the time he has already spent in custody for the investigation and the trial.
