In a significant step towards enhancing police welfare and operational effectiveness in the atolls, a new four-storey accommodation building for officers stationed in Gan, Laamu Atoll has been officially opened.
The new facility, inaugurated by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Farhad Fikry, is poised to dramatically improve the living conditions for personnel. The ceremony was attended by senior Maldives Police Service (MPS) officials and officers of various ranks, highlighting the project's importance to the force.
Constructed by Venza Company Pvt. Ltd., the modern accommodation block has the capacity to house up to 50 police officers. Its commissioning provides a major and long-awaited solution to the housing challenges previously faced by officers serving in Gan, directly contributing to their welfare and quality of life.
This project is a key component of the government's broader initiative to develop MPS facilities and establish critical infrastructure across the atolls. By ensuring officers have access to proper accommodation, the government aims to strengthen police services, boost morale, and support the ongoing efforts to expand quality policing and community safety services to all citizens throughout the country.
