Jumhooree Party (JP) has said that they did not participate in the Joint Parliamentary Group (JPG) formed by Parliament’s pro-government parties excluding Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP).
JP Chief Spokesperson Moosa Rameez said today that JP is nonetheless with the government, and will support the government in the Parliament.
“We do not believe that groups have to be formed within the Parliament. JP is with the government,” he said.
He said that JP was not earlier informed of the JPG being formed, and no official discussions took place within the coalition in this regard.
JP is represented by four members in the Parliament.
JP was part of the JPG during former President Nasheed’s administration. JPG was reformed today without DRP, and with Yameen as its leader.
