Former President and the opposition leader Mohamed Nasheed had been summoned to the Criminal Court tonight for the hearing of his trial.
Nasheed is pressed with terrorism charges by the State، for the unlawful detaining and isolating of the Criminal Court Chief Judge Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed in 2012.
The hearing was originally tabled at 16:00 today، however، the court postponed the hearing to give time for the defence attorneys to evaluate the evidences.
The State Lawyers will present documentary evidence against Nasheed in court during tonight’s hearing.
Meanwhile، several witnesses had testified against Nasheed during the past hearings. While some testified saying “Nasheed said he will take the full responsibility of detaining the judge”، others testified “Nasheed said the judge will not come 100ft within the court”.
During Saturday night’s hearing، Nasheed stated in court that he prefers if the court would issue a verdict on him immediately (last night).
