Male’ City councilman Zaidul Ameen plead “not guilty” to all three charges pressed on him by the State during hearing held at Criminal Court this Tuesday morning.
Zaidul Ameen stands accused of attempting to influence some senior State officials, spying, and collection and dissemination of information through irregular means.
State has pressed three charges on Zaidul Ameen; attempted irregular dissemination of
information, acquirement of information through irregular means, and obstruction of due process.
He was charged with attempted irregular dissemination of information in reference to Article 232 of Penal Code; acquirement of information through irregular means in reference to Article 233 of Penal Code; and obstruction of due process in reference to Article 533 of Penal Code.
Zaidul Ameen faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison if he is found guilty of all three charges.
