Maldives President Describes Türkiye Gifted Naval Ship as Reflection of Strong Ties

The Commander of the Türkiye Navy Fleet, Admiral Kadir Yıldız, paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the President’s Office on Sunday.
During the meeting, President Dr Muizzu expressed his gratitude for the generous gift of the naval ship and for Türkiye's continued support across various sectors. He noted that this gesture reflects the strong and enduring ties between the two nations.
Admiral Yıldız reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and conveyed his appreciation for the close cooperation between the Maldives and Türkiye.
Concluding the meeting, both the President and Admiral Yıldız underscored the importance of continued collaboration and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
The navy ship "Dharumavantha" donated by Türkiye to the Maldives had been officially handed over to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and commissioned into its fleet on Saturday.
Dharumavantha is the largest vessel ever acquired by the MNDF and represents a major advancement in the Maldives’ defence capabilities. It reinforces the nation’s role as a responsible member of the international community, committed to safeguarding security in the Indian Ocean region.
