Hanimaadhoo Police Station has conducted an initiative to visit guest houses operating on the island to provide information regarding safety and security.
This activity was carried out on January 25th and 26th, 2026.
Ensuring the Safety and Security of Tourists
During these visits, information was shared with service providers regarding security measures for guest houses and essential steps that can be taken to ensure the safety and security of tourists. Specifically, police advised management to remain vigilant against actions that may contravene general social standards.
Furthermore, police requested guest house owners and staff to share vital information with tourists vacationing on inhabited islands. The police highlighted that this is part of an effort to strengthen the island’s social environment and the tourism industry.
Discussions on Collaborative Efforts
As part of this initiative, discussions were held on collaborative measures that can be taken by both parties to raise awareness among tourists and guest house operators regarding safety and security. In this regard, emphasis was placed on strengthening the relationship between the police and business owners to maintain a low-crime, peaceful environment.
During this activity in Hanimaadhoo, police visited a total of nine guest houses operating on the island.
This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the police to work alongside local businesses to build a safe community.
