Police to tow illegally parked and unregistered vehicles from Malé

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has announced that all illegally parked vehicles, unregistered vehicles, and vehicles registered outside Zone A will be towed from Malé starting Monday, 23 February.
MPS urged residents and vehicle owners to remove improperly parked vehicles from streets and restricted areas by 11:30 pm on Sunday, 22 February. Police stated that failure to comply will result in immediate towing to a designated holding facility determined by the authorities. Vehicle owners will be required to bear the full cost of retrieval.
The directive is aimed at easing traffic congestion in the capital and ensuring improved access for emergency services in the densely populated city.
MPS further emphasised that it will not assume responsibility for any damage that may occur during towing or while vehicles are stored at the designated site.
