Naseer held a senior position at the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) before accepting the state minister's post in July. His resignation comes a day after ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) activists confronted Finance Minister Ahmed Inaz claiming that he held a "secret" meeting with Mulaku MP Abdulla Yamin Tuesday night. Haveeru, however, understands that Naseer's resignation is not linked with the incident. Naseer confirmed his resignation to Haveeru but declined to provide the reasons. Financial Controller at the Finance Ministry Ahmed Assad also resigned from his post last month.
