President Yameen Abdul Gayyoom has appointed Dr.Mohamed Asim as the new foreign Minister.
Till his appointment as Foreign Minister، Dr.Asim was the Maldivian Ambassador to Bangladesh. Dr.Asim is an experienced diplomat. He started serving in this field starting from 2004 upon his appointment as the High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka.
He also served as the ambassador to UK، HC to Pakistan and Ambassador to European Communities. He also held senior positions at the foreign ministry. Dr.Asim has a PhD in international relations from the Australian National University.
