Spain Secures Place Among Maldives’ Top Tourism Markets With 51,988 Arrivals

Spain has consolidated its role as a significant source of visitors to the Maldives, surpassing 50,000 arrivals during the current reporting period. Figures released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment place Spain ninth among source markets, contributing 51,988 visitors. The ranking mirrors Spain’s position at the close of last year, underscoring its steady emergence as a reliable market for the destination.
The Maldives’ tourism industry overall continues to demonstrate robust growth. Total arrivals have reached 2,080,134 to date, marking a 10.1 per cent increase compared with the same period last year. The destination is averaging 6,453 daily visitors, supported by 1,315 operational facilities, including resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and safari vessels.
Spain’s presence among the top ten contributors reflects a diversification of the visitor base, though established markets continue to dominate. China leads with 318,032 arrivals, followed by Russia with 260,416 visitors. The United Kingdom ranks third, accounting for 186,762 tourists.
