Japan gifts Disaster Response Equipment to the Maldives

The Japanese government has gifted Disaster Response Equipment to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of the Maldives.
In a special ceremony held at NDMA, the equipment was handed over by the Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, Ishigami Rumiko, and it was received by NMDA Chief Executive, Hisan Hassan.
According to information released by NMDA, the equipment is worth USD 4.30 million. It was gifted under Japan’s grant aid, Economic and Social Development Programme.
NMDA has detailed that this would facilitate assistance during flooding and fire crises throughout the atolls. NMDA has also expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for their support for disaster management in the Maldives.
