Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has begun dispatching ambulances to 56 islands under a government initiative to ensure sustainable ambulance services nationwide.
MPL was tasked with procuring and delivering ambulances to 56 islands in 2025, under a contractor finance model. Spending over USD 4.23 million, MPL has now brought all the ambulances to the Maldives over three phases, and keys to the vehicles have been handed over to the recipient islands. The delivery of the ambulances is expected to reach completion by the end of this month.
Ambulance services will be further expanded this year with the procurement of ambulances for 31 additional islands and 10 paramedic ambulances for the Greater Male’ Area.
