National bank, Bank of Maldives (BML) has raised over MVR 100,000 through their annual “Wow Kidz Run” children's event held on Saturday morning.
While the children’s event was held in partnership with Total Fitness Group (TFG) in capital city Malé’s suburban extension Hulhumale, the bank’s Public Relations Officer Mohamed Saeed revealed that the event drew immense public praise and support.
As such, this year, the runners raised MVR 105,250 for a nationwide awareness campaign by ARC Maldives, to beat bullying.
The BML Wow Kidz Run took place on Saturday morning with 1,200 children, out of which 900 children completed the run with the help of their parents, the bank revealed.
The race was divided into four categories. Children from groups aged between four to six years, six to eight years and eight to ten years had participated with their parents.

However, children from the 10 to 13 age group had run by themselves. The total number of children who had run by themselves reaches 300.
The event is hosted by the national bank every year and aims around teaching children the importance of maintaining good health by maintaining an active lifestyle.
This is the fourth consecutive run held by BML and is among the many initiatives by the bank including “BML Staff Charity Run” which raised funds for the Maldives Thalassemia Society totaling MVR 80,000.
