Following the arrest of adhaalath leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla and MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed، held responsible for the opposition-lead mass protest “Mayday” on 1st May، the cases of two individuals have been appealed in High Court.
Though the cases have been sent from the Criminal Court to High Court، it is unclear if the court had accepted the cases.
The appealed case of Ali Waheed and Imran are the 15 days detention period remanded by the Criminal Court. In addition، JP deputy leader Ameen Ibrahim and Sobah Rasheed of JP were also arrested and remanded for 15 days in detention.
The Criminal Court remanded them in detention for encouraging and provoking violence and unrest، for the sake of the safety and security of the community.
The lawyers had stated the cases of Ameen and Sobah will also be appealed.
