A fuel pipe in the pump station in Male’ which provides fuel to Stelco got damaged and fuel has got leaked in to the sea.
In a statement released by Stelco on Saturday night، they said that they are taking necessary steps to avoid any damage to the environment due to this incident، and that they have repaired the pipe so that there won’t be any more leakage.
Statement further states that extra steps were taken to avoid further spreading of the fuel in the sea by using special sheets، and using special equipment the fuel is being removed.
“We are very concerned about this incident which occurred while providing a company service to people.  We take this opportunity to inform everyone that we will do everything to avoid such incidents and provide protection from the harms such an incident might create.” Stelco stated in the statement.
Stelco further stated that they will take precautions to avoid such an incident in the future.
