Minister Imran's flat was a gift from father-in-law: Dr. Iyaz

Home Minister Imran Abdulla’s flat was given to him by his father-in-law, says religious scholar Dr. Mohamed Iyaz.
The Minister’s publicized financial statement shows that he owns a flat worth MVR 2.5 million, purchased from Amin Avenue.
Ahmed ‘Shumba Gong’ Ashraf, a member of the newly formed party MTD, asked on Twitter how Minister Imran could have purchased the flat when he had never previously held a job.
Responding to the tweet, Dr. Iyaz said that the father of Imran’s wife, Mariyam Reem, had bought flats for each of his children and that an investigation from the Anti-Corruption Commission can confirm this.
Mi flat aky @ShimranAb anbikanbalun ge bappa eyna ge konme dhariyakah gandhin flat thakuge therein @ShimranAb anbikanbalun ge flat. @ACC_Maldives nuvatha enoon muassasaa akun mikan bellevi namaves mi hageegaiy haama vaane in sha Allah.
MTD activists have been heavily critical of Minister Imran ever since party leader, former vice president Ahmed Adeeb, was returned to prison from house arrest.
