National carrier Maldivian, has officially begun flights to the 7th destination in China.
According to Island Aviation, the airline's operator, the new destination is Chengdu - capital of Sichuan province in southwest China.
The first flight from Chengdu, carrying tourists arrived in Maldives on Wednesday.
With the introduction of the new Chinese destination, Island Aviation revealed that their aim is to bring in 1,300 Chinese tourists per week.
In addition to China, the airline operates in Thailand, Bangladesh and India. It is also the only airline that operates flights to every domestic airport.
