Maldivian flights overwhelmed by passengers during school holidays

Island Aviation has stated that flights on its carrier 'Maldivian' are very tight, because of the massive influx of customers and passengers during the school holidays.
Speaking to Vnews, Island Aviation’s Managing Director Abdul Haaris said that domestic flights have ended up congested due to the surge in passengers aiming at the school holidays, while regional flights had also risen considerably high when compared to those from the previous years.
He added that most of the tickets obtained by the passengers are for trips to India’s Trivandrum and Madras. And because of the large number of bookings to these two destinations, he revealed that reservations had been completely full by November 29.
Mr. Haaris further added that the rate of incoming passengers had relatively decreased in proportion to the increased number of outgoing passengers. He also explained the reason for the passenger congestion during the school holidays as the school students, their parents or even the teachers would be opting to spend a vacation at other destinations.
Because of the increase in passenger rate, reservations on most of the southern atolls - as well as the hotels in Baa Atoll - are also expecting a lot of bookings.
