Six officers from the Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Sunday have departed to Indonesia to take part in the community policing programme organized by the Asia Foundation.
The officers who have joined the programme are: Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shuhaadh, Inspector of Police Fathimath Nashwa, Sub-Inspector of Police Adhnaan Ali, Sub-Inspector of Police Mohamed Sobah, Police Station Inspector Waleed Saeed and Police Staff Sergeant Abukakur Mohamed.
MPS explained that the programme will see the Maldivian officers be acquainted with the community policing procedures in Indonesia, understand the benefits as well as hurdles it encounters, while also sharing community policing procedures in the Maldives as well.
Several Asian countries will be taking part in the programme - which is held from May 22 to May 28.
