Search begins for a Maldivian man who traveled to Sri Lanka for medical purposes

Search for a Maldivian man who traveled to Sri Lanka for medical reasons, has begun.
According to the knowledge received by Vnews, the missing person is known to be Ahmed Shimhad (29 yrs), of Libiya, B. Eydhafushi.
Police media official stated that they began the search yesterday, after receiving information that there had been no news of him since he traveled overseas. However, Police did not reveal any more information.
According to sources, Shimhad traveled to Sri Lanka for medical purposes on the eighth of this month and was scheduled to travel back home on the 11th of this month. Upon his arrival in Sri Lanka, he had apparently called a close friend to inform and ask the individual to notify his younger sibling that he had traveled to Sri Lanka. According to the friend, Shimhad was concerned that his family would be searching for him since he failed to notify them about the trip.
Close friends of Shimhad notified Vnews that his family had called them as he did not arrive on the scheduled date, however, stated that they have not communicated since, as the family had not picked up their phone.
They stated that no information on Shimhad has been heard since.
Shimhad is a married man who has a toddler daughter. Close friends of him reveal that he was not having any family problems.
Vnews has not been able to attain any information from Shimhad’s family as they have refused to make any statements so far.
