National carrier Maldivian has brought in its 9th seaplane into the country Tuesday night.
The new addition to the fleet is a DHC-6 Twin Otter model seaplane.
Last month the company had issued an announcement seeking to buy two aircraft -- a seaplane and a 220-seater A321 airplane that had been in use for less than ten years. According to Maldivian's operator, Island Aviation, the company intends to use the A321 plane for a period of six years.
It is noteworthy that Maldivian already has a 152-seater A320 airplane in its fleet.
The company now has a total of nineteen aircraft -- eight Dash-8 planes, nine seaplanes and two airbus planes.
Its seaplane services have already been established in six resorts in the country.
