The Indian government has imposed a fine on national airline 'Maldivian' for transporting seven Maldivians to Trivandrum, twice, without visas.
According to the Indian media, the seven suspects attempted to enter the country after their on-arrival visa expired.
Maldivian has claimed that the fine was not legal and filed a case in Kerala’s High Court. The court on Monday upheld the fine but reduced the 700,000 Rupee fine to 420,000 Rupees.
Maldivian stated that other airlines face issues because of Indian regulations.
According to the regulations, if a person banned from India, or a person without a visa, enters the country, it is the responsibility of the airline that carried them.
The cost of sending them back is also the responsibility of the respective airline.
