The Maldivian Ambassador to Malaysia, Mohamed Fayaz stated that dependent visas would be provided for the wives, husbands, children and parents of Maldivian undergraduate students studying in Malaysia.
Students not being able to spend much time with their families in Malaysia due to visa difficulties is one of the major complains of the students. Some have lost their opportunity for higher studies and some have even dropped out of their universities due to this issue.

The move is set to strengthen the ties between both countries while improving the well-being of Maldivian students studying in Malaysia, who've the Malaysian government noted as being disciplined and exceptional.
