Galolhu-South MP Ahmed Mahloof on Thursday claimed that Vice-President Mohamed Jameel Ahmed will stand against President Abdulla Yameen before the 2018 elections.
MP Mahloof made the statement through a tweet sent out on Thursday. In his tweet, he had claimed that he is "100% sure that [Vice-President Mohamed Jameel Ahmed] would also stand against President Yameen" before the presidential election in 2018.
Another tweet sent out by the former member of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) stated that some MPs of the party would also stand against the current President.
MP Mahloof was dismissed from PPM after he had criticized the President. After being dismissed from the party, he had not yet signed to another party.
