Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Margot Wallström, who arrived in the Maldives on Saturday, has met with foreign minister Dhunya Maumoon.
During the meeting, Minister Dhunya noted the close collaboration the Maldives and Sweden has on a number of issues including Climate Change. Discussions were also held on further strengthening ties between the two countries.
According to the foreign ministry, Minister Dhunya hosted a dinner in honor of the visiting Swedish foreign minister and Swedish delegation. The Ministry is yet to disclose further details of the Swedish foreign minister’s visit.
Early last week, a high level delegation of the UN Department of Political Affairs, headed by the department’s Senior Advisor Tamrat Samuel also visited the Maldives, in an effort to assess the country’s political situation and lay groundwork for the all-party talks.
