Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed engages in discussions with his Thailand counterpart on opening a Maldivian Trade Office in Thailand.
On the sidelines of Minister Saeed’s trip to Thailand and Indonesia, the Economic Ministry says that the main purpose of the discussions with Thailand’s Commerce Ministry is to implement easier Visa means for Maldivians, as it is a fact that many Maldivians travel to Thailand.
The Ministry added that the majority of those Maldivians heading to the country are businessmen, and that the opportunity to establish a Trade Facilitation Office in Thailand would enable those businessmen to know the necessary information they need regarding Thailand.
Both dignitaries also talked about investment opportunities in the Maldives.
Upon meeting with Thailand’s Board of Investments, the discussions were met with the assurance of increasing Thai investments in the Maldives.
During the Minister’s trip to Indonesia, he participated in the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Bali Process, which was based in Bali, where he met several of the country’s ministers and members of its business sector.
The event saw the agreement on making efforts to stop potential human trafficking, smuggling of goods, as well as other relevant crimes.
