Maldives Hajj Corporation has stated that a search is currently underway for a missing Maldivian man who went on Umra.
75-year old Ali Mohamed (of Haa Alif Baarashu) went on Umra as a consultant to the state-owned Hajj Corporation. He was said to be missing after the Friday afternoon prayers.
It was also revealed that he did not take is ID card or phone with him when he attended the Friday prayers.
The Corporation is currently conducting the search for Ali Mohamed, with the help from relevant authorities.
A total of 311 people had departed for Umra pilgrimage under the Corporation’s sponsorship. They are currently in Medina, and their conditions are assured to be fine.
They are scheduled to return to Malé on July 18th and 19th.
