I will be the President in 2018: Moosa

Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and Hulhu Henveyru MP, Moosa Manik stated on Thursday that he will be elected as the President of the country after the 2018 Presidential Elections and added that he will submit a national budget to the Parliament in the year that follows.
MP Moosa made the statement during the debate regarding the budget for 2015 during the Parliament sitting on Thursday.
He stated that he is the definite candidate of 2018 and added that he is very confident in competing at the elections. He said that regardless what people say about him, he would always emerge stronger than before.
MP Moosa also noted that the majority of the promises in the presidential manifesto of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) had already been fulfilled within three years, before the government was purged by a coup. He added that most of these achievements were made since he was the chairperson of the party, and further revealed that this was the main reason why he would be competing at the 2018 Presidential Elections.
MP Moosa said that even though he is a part of the opposition, he would still continue to praise, support and thank the beneficial works being conducted by President Abdulla Yameen, while criticizing works which should be.
However, his talks were shaped in a way which gave the impression that the current government had failed to fulfill the promises mentioned in their presidential manifesto.
He thanked, and expressed his gratitude towards the government since they had been successfully carrying out the national health scheme, Aasandha. However, he noted that the party who introduced the service to the country was indeed MDP.
Directing his talks towards Hulhumalé - which is included in his constituency - MP Moosa said that the area is one of the most rapidly developing areas of the country. He stated that appropriate services should be provided in the island, by keeping the growing population in mind. He noted that there are some difficulties in the transpiration and health sector of the island, while adding that the amount of daily patients at the hospital had increased to 200 from 50. He noted that the hospital had not been improved to cater the needs of the growing population of the island.
He also appealed to give the opportunity to provide transportation services to another company, if Maldives Trading and Transportation Company (MTCC) fails to provide quality and cheaper services.
