Maldivian students in Nepal are safe: Migdhaad

A Maldivian student in Nepal has revealed to Vnews that none of the Maldivian students were affected by the powerful 7.9 magnitude earthquake which struck capital Kathmandu earlier today.
Dr Migdhaad Shareef - a medicine student in Nepal - revealed to Vnews that there are around 30 Maldivian students in Kathmandu, and noted that all of them were safe. They are currently located near a police hospital in the capital of Nepal.
Dr Migdhaad also noted that there are Maldivian students in other parts of Nepal as well and stressed that they were working to find out the whereabouts of those students as soon as possible.
Maldivian students in Nepal is also currently assisting those in need of medical attention following the quake.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also working to reach out the Maldivian students in Nepal. However, the Ministry noted that they would provide further information to the media later since they were clearing out some information.
The United States Geological Survey said the quake struck 81 kilometres (50 miles) northwest of Kathmandu at 0611 GMT, with walls crumbling and families racing outside of their homes.
Tremors of the quake was also felt in Bangladesh and India, with 50 being injured in Bangladesh and one killed in India. Tolls of the quake is still on the rise as relief efforts begin clearing out rubble on the streets.
