Anonymous has released a video to the Maldivian Government and their citizens, cautioning of release of information regarding the Government and their “crimes” on 10th April 2015.
A short one and half minute video released by the organization stated that Anonymous had been “watching your crimes, corruption, defamation and groundless judgements”. The video stated that the Government had been issued fair warnings before, but no improvement was seen.
The video added that as a result Anonymous had no other option but to protest and show the grave injustices committed by those in power.
The video, which was released under the youtube account God Father Anonymous, was uploaded yesterday. The youtube account itself was created yesterday. God Father Anonymous account does not appear to be linked to the official Anonymous youtube account, even though the video released was made in the same manner as that of videos released by Anonymous.
Anonymous is a loosely associated international network of activist and hacktivist entities formed in 2003. A website nominally associated with the group describes it as "an internet gathering" with "a very loose and decentralized command structure that operates on ideas rather than directives".
The group became known for a series of well-publicized publicity stunts and distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on government, religious, and corporate websites.
