China to handle expenses for Maldivian Investment Forum

State Minister of the President’s Office Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu), announced that China would pay for all the expenses of the Investment Forum being held in China by Maldives.
Speaking with the press before his departure on Wednesday, Mundhu said that the second investment forum, which was initially to be held in Shanghai, has been relocated to capital Beijing, as per request of the Chinese government.
Even though Shanghai is the business capital, the decision to relocate was due to China and most international companies having their Head Office in Beijing. It is expected to receive more recognition and popularity in Beijing.
“Even though we received sponsors for the investment forum held in Singapore last year, the government also had to provide expenses. However, for this year’s forum, China has provided a lot of support,” said Mundhu.
The forum was supposed to be held on September; however, Mundhu said that the schedule is shifted to October, after the “Minivan 50” events.
