A Maldivian flight which had been travelling from Addu City Gan to Male' had to make an emergency landing at GA. Kooddoo airport, after a crack was spotted on the windshield of the flight on Wednesday.
Speaking to Vnews on Thursday night, Managing Director of Island Aviation, Haris Ali revealed that the incident took place a few hours ago. He added that the windshield had cracked during flight.
"It is not advisable for flights to keep flying after such an incident occurs. Hence the flight had safely made an emergency landing at the Kooddoo Airport, since it was the nearest one," Haris said.
He added that such accidents occur during flights, while assuring that the incident is not of much higher concern. He also revealed that a team from Male' have departed to Kooddoo to fix the windshield of the flight.
Even though the total number of passengers travelling from the flight is not known, Haris assured that all of these passengers would be transported to Male' tonight.
A passenger present on board had revealed to V-News that the flight attendants had not informed the passengers of the crack, however they had noticed that the flight was shaking with a rather unusual smell being present inside.
The passenger added that the flight made an emergency landing at Kooddoo Airport after 20 minutes of it's take off, and said that the flight attendants had informed them of the emergency landing.
