The Island Aviation Head Office, where Maldives National airline Maldivian operates from, has been broken into, with MVR 500,000 being stolen.
Speaking with Vnews, Island Aviation Head of Administration Ali Nashaath said that the break-in occurred after the perpetrators tied up a Maldivian guard who was on duty.
He revealed that the break-in was discovered around morning, after the security guard freed himself and called the authorities.
He added that more information would be revealed later on, since the case is currently under investigation.
Police media officer confirmed that they are working on the break-in case, and also confirmed that MVR 500,000 was stolen. They added that the case was reported around 5:10 a.m.
They revealed that the security guard's hands were tied behind his back and bound in tape. The Island Aviation office is now working out of the previous Raaveriyaa Restaurant.
A group of masked men scaled the outer wall of the building and entered the building. They also vandalized the safe.
The case is currently under investigation with no immediate arrests as of yet.
