It has been announced that the Maldivian Athletic Team will be participating at this year’s Asian Games.
The Athletics Association stated that the team will be partaking at the 17th Asian Games which will be held in South Korea’s Incheon city where the event is commencing on the 19th of this month. Five athletes will be representing the Maldives who will be travelling with their two coaches and manager.
Athletes competing at the games include, Hassan Saaid, Mohamed Hussein, Hussein Inaas, Shifaz Mohamed and Hussein Rizaa. Ahmed Faaeel and Mohamed Shujau are the coaches and the Athletics Association’s President Mohamed Tholal will be travelling as the team’s manager.
The Athletics Association noted that Mohamed Saaid will be competing in the 100m and 200m run, Hussein Inaas in the 200m and 400m run. While Hussein Rizaa will be competing in the 400m run, Shifaz Mohamed and Mohamed Hussein in the 800m and 1500m run.
Athletics Association also stated that the team will be returning to Male’ on the 13th of this month after their training in Trivandrum and travelling to Incheon on the 16th.
