‘Maldivian’ is expected to receive is tenth seaplane early next week, revealed the national carrier’s operator, Island Aviation.
Speaking to Vnews, Island Aviation’s Head of Administration Ali Nashaath Hameed said the ‘Twin Otter’ model seaplane will be brought in on October 31, making it the tenth such model added to the fleet.
The most recent seaplane -- also a DHC-6 Twin Otter model -- was brought in on October 4.
A 50-seater passenger plane is also expected to be brought in late November, he added.
Last month the company had issued an announcement seeking to buy two aircraft: a seaplane and a 220-seater A321 airplane that had been in use for less than ten years. According to Maldivian's operator, Island Aviation, the company intends to use the A321 plane for a period of six years.
It is noteworthy that Maldivian already has a 152-seater A320 airplane in its fleet.
The company currently has a total of nineteen aircraft -- eight Dash-8 planes, nine seaplanes and two airbus planes.
Its seaplane services have already been established in six resorts in the country.
