Only Maldivians can be company secretaries: Economic Min.

Ministry of Economic Development has directed all companies to employee only Maldivians as company secretaries by the start of December.
A notice released by the Ministry asked for all companies that are registering henceforth to have a Maldivian as a company secretary and for all currently operational companies with expatriates as secretaries to hire Maldivians for the post by December.
The Ministry also unveiled a set of criteria that must be met by anyone who is the secretary of more than three companies.
These include working in a law firm, audit or business consultation. Having a business-related degree or having completed the special course by the Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA).
Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed said that they have taken a decision for only Maldivians to remain as the board secretaries of the government and corporate companies.
In order to open up more employment opportunities for Maldivians, the Economic Ministry has mandated all cashiers and photographers in the tourism sector to be Maldivian employees.
